Three Easy Steps<\/p>\n

STEP 1: Baby Signals Need to Eliminate
Baby farts or grunts, indicating the need to poop (defecate), or baby awakens from sleep, indicating the need to pee (urinate).<\/p>\n

STEP 2: Take Baby to Eliminate
Hold baby over the toilet, potty-training toilet, bathroom sink or any receptacle.<\/p>\n

STEP 3: As baby is on the toilet, say and sign words
When baby poops, make the sign for “potty” and a sound. When baby pees, make the sign for “pee” and a “SHHH” sound.<\/p>\n

USE DIAPERS AS A BACKUP<\/p>\n

When you know your baby needs to go (usually within 5 – 10 minutes of waking up or being fed), take the diaper off and take to the toilet. Repeat the above steps daily from birth and you will have a potty-trained infant by the age of one.<\/p>\n

ELIMINATION COMMUNICATION<\/p>\n

WHAT IS ELIMINATION COMMUNICATION? Parents in the United States have started going back to the basics of potty training by foregoing diapers completely with the use of elimination communication (“EC”). The age (in months) for being potty trained has increased dramatically:<\/p>\n

Now: 36<\/p>\n

HOW? BY PAYING ATTENTION TO BABY’S CUES.<\/p>\n

Have your infant go NAKED for THREE DAYS. Pay attention to her elimination AND the following:<\/p>\n
