One thing that is certain though, in a few months time, there’s a chance that a person much smaller and fragile than you will appear in your arms depending on you for their survival. This will draw a connection and an appreciation for this one-on-one time. Plus, they’ll become more accustomed to the different sounds you make as you create imaginative characters in the stories.

2) Preps Them to Read on Their Own

As they read along with you, they will gain familiarity with the words and pictures and start to form a link between the two, which better prepares them when learning how to sound out the words on their own.

3) Boosts Brain Power

Studies have shown that when babies are exposed to reading at an early stage, it will enhance their vocabulary, thus making them avid readers.

4) Triggers Responses

When you’re making little cat meows and dog barks those sounds will resonate in a child, triggering a response; whether it be a laugh or a startled jump.

5) Introduces Emotions

This brings on to the next point of feelings. With each laugh or startled behavior, this allows the infant to know that this is what it means to enjoy a feeling of now feeling scared.

6) Visual Exposure

The more pictures in a story, the more likely the child will be able to follow along. With the visualization, the child will be able to better place the words with the pictures leaving a lasting memory.

7) Funness of Reading

Have fun! When you’re reading, allow the child to see how much enjoyment is in reading. Don’t make it dull or forced, instead be as lively as possible.

8) Reading Anything You Want

Finally, read anything you want! When it’s time for bed and you just want one last bonding moment with your adorable angel, they probably aren’t as attentive to your words as they are just being close to you. So pick up that mystery book you’ve been dying to finish and read aloud so that your voice is just a soothing instrument to their tiny ears.

With all this knowledge you know that you are serving your child a healthy dose of a cognitive structure.
