Every parent wants their child to succeed. But it’s hard to know what you need to provide your child with in order to do so. You’re left asking yourself, “Am I really doing everything I can to open doors for my child?” or, “Am I providing them with the tools they need to truly succeed in life?” The most obvious remedies to these worries are: a good education, and a healthy and supportive home environment.
Those are all vital in a child’s upbringing, but a lot of people overlook the benefits that come with being fluent in more than one language. Knowing more than one language has become increasingly valuable in the workplace because of how globalized our world has become. With Smart Coos, your child can start developing stronger language and comprehension skills from a very early age that will help them succeed in the future.
Being bilingual myself, I know the benefits of being fluent in more than one language first hand. Time and again I’ve been told that being bilingual has helped me edge out other applicants for a position. I owe this skill to my mother, who never let me lose my Spanish fluency even after I entered school and wanted to speak nothing but English because that’s what all my friends spoke. My mother provided me with one of the greatest tools I wield when I apply for a job and, even though I was unhappy about her persistence at the time, I cannot thank her enough for always encouraging me to speak both languages. She understood the importance of being bilingual in the job market because it is also what provided her with the many opportunities she had in America.
Now, I realize that not all parents know more than one language and are able to expose their children to it at an early age, but that is exactly why Smart Coos exists. Smart Coos provides a parent with the ability to give their child as many opportunities as possible to learn, to grow, and, of course, to succeed. Learning a second language does not only improve your child’s visibility in the workplace, but it also improves their ability to learn and do well in school. When your child’s mind is exposed to multiple languages at an early age, it strengthens the development of their brains and elevates their way of thinking.
In the case of mental development; the earlier, the better. You must strike while the iron is hot, so to speak; while your child’s mind can still absorb all the subtleties of a second language. You can even learn the new language with your child and improve your own skill-set in the process. Though, don’t get discouraged when your child is able to grasp the language faster than you. After all, their minds are sponges at the peak of absorption in their first few years of life. Give them something to absorb that will truly benefit them in the long run. No one has the perfect formula for success, but Smart Coos is definitely a step in the right direction for any parent.
